Last night, nearly 300 guests joined in celebrating two inspiring individuals at the 2017 Outlive Yourself Awards to support the inspiring work of Taylor's Gift Foundation.
A highlight of the event was celebrating the two amazing honorees, Dr. Tiffany Anthony, one of only 100 female transplant surgeons in the nation, and Ms. Terri Maxwell, an inspiring business owner and entrepreneur.
The event took place at Union Station in Dallas, TX and was presented by Methodist Dallas Transplant Institute. All funds raised from the event went to support the work of Taylor's Gift Foundation of Regifting Life, Renewing Health, and Restoring Families.
The funds raised from last night's event will go on to help many organ donor families through the Legacy Gift program. The program was established to provide financial assistance to individuals and families touched by organ donation and assists with needs such as burial expenses, utilities, rent, and more. By providing this level of support to the donor families, Taylor’s Gift Foundation works to help those who are facing immediate need.
Inspired To Make a Difference
After her aunt passed away, a young woman made the life giving decision to register as an organ donor because she was inspired by the selfless gifts her aunt had given as an organ donor. Several years later, this young woman tragically passed away. Her family honored her wishes for her to be an organ donor and through this tragedy and her selfless gift of organ donation, several lives were transformed.
With YOUR support from North Texas Giving Day yesterday, we are able to support more organ donor families through our Legacy Gift program! THANK YOU!
This year's North Texas Giving Day raised over $39 million dollars for North Texas non-profits! What an incredible day filled with incredible generosity for not just Taylor's Gift Foundation, but for many North Texas non-profit organizations.
Dr. Anthony is a talented transplant surgeon at Baylor Scott & White. As a prestigious female transplant surgeon she is recognized as a trailblazer by being 1 of approximately 100 female transplant surgeons in the nation.
Dr. Anthony works long hours day and night to oversee the beautiful orchestration of the gift of life through organ donation. She is the definition of selfless, always putting others before herself.
In 2010, a beautiful memorial garden was built in memory of Taylor Storch. Since the garden was created, it has been a peaceful place where individuals come to enjoy the sights and sounds of nature in this small oasis.
Last year, Taylor's Gift Foundation launched a Brick Paver campaign that offered individuals and companies the opportunity to purchase bricks and place engraved messages on the pavers that would create a beautiful brick walkway through the garden.
The campaign was an immense success and hundreds of engraved brick pavers were placed in the garden late last year.
On Thursday, March 23rd, our team hosted a wonderful Sporting Clays event thanks to our amazing sponsors and teams. With an awesome group of shooters present and a significant day of fundraising to support the mission and work of Taylor's Gift Foundation, the event was a definite success!
Nominate someone today to be honored at the 3rd Annual Outlive Yourself Awards on Thursday, September 28th, 2017 at Union Station in Dallas, TX.
Last year we featured a story from Karen Abercrombie on, "How My Sister, Julie De Rossi, Lived Outrageously and Outlived Herself." The story was truly inspiring and talked about the life and love that Karen's sister Julie shared with the rest of world. Within the blog post, Karen discussed how her family found out that one of the recipients of Julie's tissues was NFL Star Carson Palmer, who played for the Cincinnati Bengals at the time.
After learning about this unique bond, Karen and her family developed a special connection to Palmer. This story was recently highlighted by the NFL in the video featured above. Watch this inspiring #OutliveYourself story of Karen and her family remembering the loving nature of their beloved Julie.
This past Friday, September 30th, the 3rd Annual Taylor's Gift Foundation Topgolf Tournament was held in The Colony, Texas. Participants joined forces to compete for the best score in the unique golf game, which connects the classic game of golf with a fun and competitive driving range environment. A fun day was had by all!
